Website Redesign and Accessibility

01

The Strategy

We started with a thorough audit of the existing site, looking at both UX and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This helped us decide what to keep and what needed a makeover. The audit produced a range of recommendations, which we discussed with DASCH’s key stakeholders. These discussions led to a detailed scope document that guided the redesign and rebuild of the site.

The new design reflects DASCH’s existing branding and color scheme. We used beautiful imagery, soft edges, and complementary colors to create a warm and inclusive feel. The layout was designed with plenty of breathing room to make navigation smooth and intuitive. We applied UX and accessibility best practices to ensure that everyone can easily find their way around the site.

The revamped website aims to meet AA accessibility standards set by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We reviewed the existing content, development, and design, making the necessary changes to improve accessibility and ensure the site open to as many people as possible.

The new site is built on WordPress to make managing content easy. We developed a back-end theme with consistent colors, fonts, and layouts, so any new content will look polished and professional. We also provided content and accessibility training for the website management team, so they can update the site with ease to keep it fresh, relevant and accessible.

The Creative

The About Page Redesign:

A side by side comparison of the about pages on DASCH. The old design is crowded and the text is quite small, whereas the new design breathes and has enough space to be calm.

The Footer Redesign:

A side by side comparison of the DASCH footer designs on mobile. The old design has a white background wit hard to read grey text. The new design has a bright blue background and clear contrast with white text over top.

Connection

With these updates, DASCH’s website now better reflects who they are. It supports their mission and serves their audience more effectively.

“[Marshal Yard] demonstrated a remarkable commitment to understanding our needs and goals and provided great feedback. From the initial consultation to the final launch, they actively listened to our requirements and aspirations, ensuring that the redesign reflected our vision…

The transformation of our website exceeded our expectations. The fresh, modern design not only captures the essence of our organization but also enhances the overall user experience”
